Ever since visiting Pollock’s Toy shop at the age of 7, and seeing beautiful marionettes hanging up around the shop, I was hooked. In my late teenage years, a few friends and I used to perform with our collection of Pelham Puppets. It was short lived unfortunately when A level exams took priority. Later on during the 70’s and 80’s I bought a full set of Punch figures from Bob Wade (sadly no longer with us), and I used to perform Punch & Judy occasionally at birthday parties for friends and family. These days I am quite content to make myself a marionette from time to time, just for fun. Joining the Guild was the best thing I have ever done in my life. I have achieved so much more as a person, because of the inspiration that I get from my fellow members. Great friendships have been formed and I would seriously recommend it to anyone with a passion for this wonderful art we call Puppetry.
